Teacher's certificate booklet for Aletha Jacobs to teach first grade in any Iowa school, valid for three years. Signed in Des Moines, IA, July 1, 1910, by J. F. Riggs, the president of the Educational Board of Examiners. The certificate was registered for Buchanan County, 7/1/1910-7/1/1911 under superintendent G. R. Lockwood and Black Hawk County, 3/27/1911-6/30/1913, under superintendent Harry A. Moore. The back of the booklet lists results of the teacher's examination. The inner two pages have thick, black boarders and the front cover has a small illustration of a flag and field.

Aletha Hutchison Jacobs, born in Buchannan County, Iowa, was a teacher for rural schools in Benton County (1900-1902), Buchanan County (1902-1910), Black Hawk County (1912-1916), Grundy County (1916-1920), Wright County (1920-1921), and Webster County (1922). In 1922 she moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Elmer. There she taught at Hummelstown High School in Dauphin County (1922-1924) and Reamstown School in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County (1926-1960).
