Elgin No. 1 (Original Location)

The Elgin No. 2 schoolhouse opened between 1875 and 1904 according to township maps. It closed by 1954. In 1969, the building was bought for $50. Over the next few decades, it moved four times before finally landing at the Sioux County Historical Society's property in 1992. As of 2024, it is open to the public as a museum.
