The Probst School (Bristol No. 6) was built between 1875 and 1896 according to township maps. It was named after the landowners, the Probst family. In the 1950s the districts near Jefferson consolidated into the town school and closed the one room schoolhouses. In 1959 the building was sold at public auction to Joe Schilling for $325. He moved it to 890 Orchard Ave, Jefferson IA, where it was used as a garage for many decades with the school's chalkboards and original door still in place.
