Elements of Design: Symbolism in Material Culture

Thursday, October 29, 2015 to Sunday, July 31, 2016

“Elements of Design” is an evaluation of everyday objects and how their distinct forms and designs represent important aspects of the cultures and people who crafted them. This exhibit focuses on four distinct cultures; Pueblo, American, Peruvian, and Polynesian and looks at the basic elements of design often overlooked by the general museum patron. The ten elements of design are the foundation on which artists create their work. More importantly, linking these native traditions with the art based elements of design force the patron to think about material culture from a different perspective.
