The Harpers Ferry Flintlock is a pre-civil war, .69 caliber musketoon, the shorter barreled version of a musket, made in 1825. Harpers Ferry Armory was selected by George Washington for the second national armory. Between 1822 to 1829 the armory was very focused on making uniform guns, moving away from the traditional craft based production system to a more factory production system to continue to meet growing demand. The steel barrel and fittings were stamped with an eagle's head and marked "V.P." a. Wood stock. b. Trigger 7 guard assembly; c. Steel barrel & fittings; d. Lockplate, hammer, & pan assembly; e. Front brass barrel band; f. Rear brass barrel band; g. Left side plate.
