Confederate (C.S.A) contact rifle, .54 caliber, stamped “Pulaski T C.S.A.1861". The Pulaski Armory was believed to have been started by brothers Napoleon B. and Joseph H. Zuccarello, James McLean and William N. Webb. This rifle was loosely patterned on the U.S. Model 1841 and consisted of recycled parts including flintlock parts. When altering the rifle from lock to percussion, it had to be fitted with a new hammer that was awkward but functional. The hammer on this specific rifle is broken and thus no longer functional. A union raid in 1861 destroyed many of the estimated 300 rifles produced.
