Button, pro ERA, lithograph type; white numerals on dark green field, "59c"; pin back. A pin that NOW (National Organization for Women) released during an ERA (Equal Rights Act) campaign in 1972 that extended it's seven year limit by 3 years to end in 1982 when the act was three states short of ratification. 59c was the gap in pay; women earned 59c to every dollar a man made. NOW is the largest feminist activist group in the United States and was founded in 1966. The goal is to get the ERA added as an amendment to the constitution, but that still has not been done.
