John Davis and Charles Bryan (Democratic) ran against Calvin Coolidge and Charles Dawes (Republican) and Robert La Follette and Burton Wheeler (Progressive). The election was won by Coolidge and Dawes. Davis opposed anti-lynching legislation, women's suffrage, child labor laws, and Truman's civil rights program. He supported establishing a poll tax and state's rights.
