Front is blue, with white letters which state "Bromwell for Senator". Back of button is silver with some discoloration, and features a pin to affix button to clothing. Thomas L. Bromwell was a democratic senator for the state of Maryland from 1983-May 24, 2002 when he resigned. He served as the head of quite a few committees and ran his own construction company named "Dallas Construction". In 2007 he pleaded guilty to charges including racketeering conspiracy, tax evasion, and accepting bribery from a construction firm to help it get state work. Both he and his wife were convicted as his wife received more than $200,000 in bribes. His wife served one year and one day in federal prison while he raised their kids and then he served a little less than six years before being released into a community integration program. Bromwell was sentenced to serve seven years in federal prison. Federal prosecutors began their investigations in secret starting in 2001.
