Green devil, carved from curved piece of wood about 1/2" thick. Prominent hooked nose and chin. Red-painted mouth has 10 animal teeth inserted. Prominent eyebrows and cheek bones. Below carved eyebrows are eye slits carved out of the wood. Below the slits are red-painted eyes with paper pasted on. The paper has ink eyeballs. Under-surface of eyelids is painted red. Some sort of bovine horns are attached at the side. Marked on the back "8 marzo 1954. Panacho Michoacan ISP." and "No. 53." This is a Diablo mask from a Pastorelas Play, which is a retelling of the Christmas nativity scene.
