The three -dimentional carved Luba lance is meticulously ornamented with carved wood and metal appurtenances. A dual-sided face is centered on the shaft of the object, the visages rubbed smooth from years of use. Each oval face depicts closed eyes and unsmiling pulpy lips; the rubbings have enhanced the contract between the dark abd light patina. Each head is wrapped, exposing the high foreheads. Tightly wrapped rings of copper decorate the vertical length of the staff, which is truncated with a short spear point on one end, and a larger, javelin-like point upon the lower end.
