Inside, the second page reads, in handwriting, "Boone County Normal Institute, August 11, 1884. Instructors: Prof. Curran, Angus IA. Mrs. Payne, Boone, IA. Conductors: Prof. Gass, Boone, IA." The next pages have notes on books read and notes on the1885 Boone Normal Institue notes, followed by blank note pages. The back cover acts as a front cover for another booklet titled, "Pocket Register and Blotter." This side of the booklet acted as a daily blotter and class roster for a teacher from Nov. 10, 1884 - Mar. 3, 1885. Softback, brown covers, bound with fabric and thread.

Contains various games, songs, and rhythm activities for elementary students. Marching, contests, and natural gymnastics are also discussed. The cover is plain blue except for an embossed shield. Above the shield is a bird. Inside the shield appears to be a factory, log cabin, and a man carrying an American flag. The spine has gold writing stating the title, authors and publisher. The back inside cover page has two rows of numbers written in pencil. The inside front cover has written in blue ink "Freda B. Kelting Williamsburg" Binding is coming loose.

640 1988.22.1A Case, pencil Ten kids pictured on wooden case. There are three sections that are separated by a red painted frame adn a black border. The first window has a two girls and a baby and says "made in Germany". The second window has the two girls with a little boy. The third window has a boy looking through a telescope, a girl in a red dress, and a woman carrying a little girl on her back. The case has a large crack horizontally across the front that angles down to the proper left side. It is missing the metal clasp that fits into the lock. 646 1988.22.1H Pen An ink pen. Has a wooden handle that has ben painted a couple colors over the years but they are slowly starting to peel away to reveal previous layers and the original wood. There is a metal piece between the hardened rubber grip and the wooden handle that is rusting. The handle has "95(possibly 85) <*> E. The subject of the book is mathematic principles ranging from addition to factoring, ledger accounts, measures of value, etc. The end of the book has pages that give correct answes to the exercises throuhout the book. The outside cover of the book is red with black writing. There are black lines that form a box on the cover. Inside the cover is written "Robinson's Shorter Course." "Complete Arithmetic". Below this is a geometric shape. The spine is black and has gold writing "Robinson Complete Arithmetic." "American Book company". The inside cover has many mathematical notes written in pencil In brown ink on the inside cover page is written "Robinson's Arithmetic" "Urma Bethke" "Grade 10, April 2, 1903." The back inside cover page has more pencil notes and a small piece of typed paper telling how to figure the contents of a crib of corn. Color: BK,WH

The sections cover various dances and other things to do with dancing such as ballroom etiquette, five man positions, the Grand March, Square Dances, Lancers, Waltz, Contra Dances, Round dancing, Polka, the Cotillion and Figures of the Cotillion. Green paper dust jacket is plain with "DANCING" written in red block letters. Below that in black block letters it reads "WITHOUT AN INSTRUCTOR". The spine of the dust jacket has "DANCING" in black block letters. The inside of the dust jacket has written in pencil some numbers. There are 25 chapters in the book ranging from suffocation, unconsciousness, seizures, brain injuries, effects of heat and cold, lightning, fractures, dislocations, wounds, accidents from machines, bleeding, poisoning, descriptions of poisonous plants, nightmares, earaches, how to bandage, disinfectants and signs of death. The outside of the book is a faded green color. At the top of the cover written in black are the words ACCIDENTS AND EMERGENCIES/ DULLES". Below that is a drawing of a human shoulder and arm that are being fixed from dislocation. At the bottom left written in black is "SEVENTH EDITION". The inside cover has in the upper left corner a sticker "BOUGHT CHICAGO MEDICAL CO.. Congress & Honore Sts. Chicago." On the inside cover page in the lower right corner is a stamp of a bear. Contains sight reading exercises, major and minor scales, sharps, staffs and various types of songs. The cover is dark red and well worn so only half of the title is readable. At one time there appears to have been a design drawin around the title. The title is done in black. Inside the cover is written "May 6th, 1909, Ackley, Iowa" at the top in black ink. The inside cover page has written in the center in black ink "Bertha and David Benning. Faulkner Franklin Co. Iowa." The title page has written in black ink "1909 May 6th" next to the title. "Ethel Flom Swanson" and "Anna Flom" is written in blue marker on the top. The binding is beginning to tear and the corners are bent. Book is 352 pages excluding the bibliography (that is an additional 72 pages. There are two pieces of green construction paper, one after page 352 and the other at the very end of the book.
