1 1974.21.2.1 Carving Brown owl carved from a single piece of wood. It has two perked up ears and very large eyes, it is perched on a base of solid wood. The carving is detailed and carefully done. On the bottom of the base there is a white sticker that reads "Imports BIG G Made in Ecuador" in blue font.
2 1974.21.2.2 Flute Large bamboo flute. 7 holes are carved into the top, 6 of them grouped a sixth of the way in, closest to the open end. The inside is hollow. The hole that stands alone is closest to the closed end of the flute and has an etching in of 4 triangles across a straight line carved next to it. The closed end is not part of the original bamboo, but rather was placed there after carving.
3 1975.1.1 Statue Statue, carving of beggar with cane, in costume with hat and bag on each side. Cloth around upper torso holds a bag on back. Barefooted. Figure has a beard, White paper label reads "Imports, Big G, Made in Ecuador". Has object in left hand.
4 1975.1.2 Statue Carved wooden statue of a man. Man is wearing a sombrero and has a large, bushy beard that is carved in great detail. He is wearing a satchel slung around his bach over a jacket. He is holding a bowl in his proper right hand. He is wearing trousers and is barefoot and looking down. There is a platform of wood that serves as the base. Statue is carved from a single piece of wood.
5 1975.1.3 Statue Carving of beggar with a round hat holding bowl and sack, barefooted. Has beard; bag on back held by a sling around arms. Printed on white label on bottom, "Big G Imports. Made in Ecuador."
6 1975.1.4 Carving Handcarved llama and kid, turned to face out. Llama has a pack or a saddle on its back. Both are on a block of solid wood.
7 1983.12.12 Necklace A long beaded necklace comprised of many coral colored beads on a cotton string.
8 1992.33.2.14 Necklace Indian bead, black seeds. Strung on cord; no clasp but tied with cotton cord.
9 1992.33.2.2 Scale Scale made from a hollowed, carved gourd and a heavier, wooden scale mechanism. The wooden mechanism has a large block on the end of the right side. The top is smooth and carved starting with a "T". Finger must be placed in one of the divots on the back in order to balance correctly. The stem of the mechanism has dots to measure weight. Dots go numerically from one to four and then skip to six. Carved above the six dots are the roman numerals "M" and "XII". There is a dot between "XII" and another "M" with two dots to the left of the top "M" and one above the point on the right. Weighted block is carved from a single chunk of wood and is not finished. There is a hole drilled through the left side of the mechanism with three strands of cotton yarn and knotted on top. The three strands are entwined and split to tie in three different holes in a large gourd bowl. The gourd has been carved in half and hollowed out. There is a number "2" written in pencil next to one of the strands of yarn. There is a singular loop of the same cotton yarn that is tied around the three strands. The gourd has a crack in the bottom and one on the side slightly below the "2". The outside of the gourd is speckled in different shades of tan and brown.
10 1997.4.20.2 Quiver Section of bamboo, filled in at one end with a white substance. Lashed at top and 2" from bottom with dark brown cord. Top one secures braided fiber cord that forms carrying strap. Bottom one lashes on a narrow strip of bamboo which sticks up parallel to surface of bamboo cylinder. On this strip is strung a hollow round gourd with a 3/4' hole inside away from bamboo cylinder. Cylinder filled with narrow atrips of plant material.
