The sleeves of the shirt are gathered at the wrists and buttoned with black plastic buttons that bear broad anchors. The cuffs are trimmed with three 1/4" white stripes, similar to the neck flap. On the middle of the left sleeve is sewn a 5 3/4" x 3 3/4" patch, indicating the rank of a petty officer first class, and consisting of two gold inverted "V" stripes, indicating years of service.
