This one made April 1878 as noted on the back edge which says "Mre d'Armes de St Etienne Avril 1878". This indicates the arsenal, month, and year the bayonet was made. "M 2707" is imprinted on the hilt. This bayonet was a fit for the French Model 1874 "Gras" Infantry Rifle which was manufactured between 1874 and 1885. The handle is part wooden and part brass with steel crosspiece and muzzle ring. |

This was made April 1878 as noted on the back edge of the bayonet itself which says "Mre d'Armes de St Etienne Avril 1878". This indicates the arsenal, month, and year the bayonet was made. This bayonet and scabbard were a fit for the French Model 1874 "Gras" Infantry Rifle which was manufactured between 1874 and 1885. Numbers on the scabbard say "58012". This scabbard has a small dent on the side with those numbers, and there is a nob on the finial. |
