6 1978.25.87 Campaign Ribbon, Ephemera Red cloth, gold lettering and drawing, "Boies for President". bevel cut "V" at bottom. Horace Boies was a Democratic convert after the Republican party started supporting prohibition and high tariffs. He served as a democratic Governor of Iowa from 1890-1894. In 1892, Boies ran as a presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention and came in third. He did not pursue the presidency again. ALLISON 1888"; gold satin bow sewn at top; silver brocade border; silver wire fringe suspended from bottom edge. This badge is in support of William B. Allison, who was born in Ohio but spent the majority his life in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the first representative from Iowa's 3rd district in the House of Representatives and served for eight years. There were a few times that the presidency intrigued him, but he never pursued a full campaign. Hershey Jr. was born in 1964 and was sworn into the House of Delegates in 2011 as a Republican for Maryland's 36th district. This badge was from the 1928 Republican National Convention in 1928 that was located in Kansas City. At this convention, Herbert Hoover won the Presidential Nomination and Charles Curtis won the Vice Presidential Nomination. HEARST I O W A" typed on paper and inserted in name slot, ribbon red with brown lettering, "VOTING DELEGATE AMERICAN FARM BUREAU FEDERATION". This badge was belonged to Charles Ernest Hearst, a voting delegate for the state of Iowa for the American Farm Bureau Federation where he was Vice President from 1931-1936. Hearst was the President of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation from 1923-1936. Hearst was from Cedar Falls, Iowa and the Hearst family name is still present in the community (10/21/10).
