1 UNIM1989.13.5 Tool Metal food shredder with removeable shredding attachment and hand crank. The outer base is all one piece, painted red; there is a square holding reservoir at the top, under which is a cylindrical guard for the shredding mechanism that has a spout shape at the bottom for collecting or disposing of juices, below this the mechanism for attaching the device to a tabletop, made up of a flat, horizontal are of metal and a 2"bolt at the very bottom. The detachable shredding mechanism is made up of a silver metal cylinder with regularly spaced, repeating holes, the outside of which have sharp barbs, the inside is not sharp and there is a large spring made of thick wire for reinforcement; the crank attaches to the center spoke of the cylinder, on the opposite side of the base, it has a screw for tightening onto the spoke on one end and a wooden handle that has been painted black on the other. The red paint has been worn away and chipped in some areas and there are splotches of yellow, white, and blue paint in a few areas; "*Be sure to Leave Screw in handle" has been written in what appears to be white paint on the back of the cylindrical shredder casing. Object is made up of three parts, the solid metal base (13.5a), the cylindrical shredder (13.5b), and the hand crank (13.5c)
2 UNIM1989.13.6 Tool Metal manual crank food shredder with wood on crank handle. The back base is one piece, a cylindrical casing for the shredding mechanism with a square holding cup at attached to the top is welded on to this back piece. The shredding mechanism is made up of a cylinder with holes that have sharp barbs on one side that is located on the front of the back plate, and an attached metal crank with a smooth, shaped wooden handle on the other side. At the bottom of the base are two flat, horizontal tabs and a 2' bolt with a flat head which are used to fasten the object to a table top. "MADE IN USA" is etched on the back.
3 UNIM1989.5.27 Tool Metal ricer typically used to "rice" potatoes, a method used to create fluffier potatoes for recipes. There are two handles attached via a hinge in order to allow for the two to be separated and pressed together, both handles are slotted instead of solid and have an opening at the top for hanging. One handle has a a rounded triangular sieve attached and the other has a solid metal plate used to push food through the sieve when the handles are closed. "CLIMAX; FRUIT AND VEGETABLE; PRESS" Is etched into one side of the sieve. The sieve is held together by welding, some of which has begun to come undone, creating a gap between the side and the bottom.
4 UNIM1989.5.28 Tool Metal scoop with handle and scraper attachment. The scoop itself is trapezoidal in shape with a slightly curved top, where the handle begins; the handle is seamlessly attached to the base, it has evenly spaced ridges on the underside for comfortable grip and teardrop shaped blind hole on the underside of the end for hanging. There is a shiny metal scraper attached to the side of the scoop opposite of the handle via four metal rivets. On the inside of the scoop there is an embossed outline of rectangle with rounded corners, inside of which "FREEZER-D-FROSTER" is embossed right above a smaller rectangle with rounded corners; "№-5277; TRADE MARK; MADE IN U.S.A.; NEW KENZINGTON, PA." is embossed on the underside of the scoop along with a circular logo made up of a central cross with the words "ALUMINUM" and "TACMUCO" intersecting inside, around which are four segments of a circle containing stars.
5 UNIM1989.5.29 Container 1 quart glass jar with screw-on metal lid with attached handle. The container is bulb shaped with a design reminiscent of a star or flower. Metal lid has a mechanism designed for pouring made up of a metal plate covering a spout and a lever on the handle which operates by pulling the plate back, exposing the spout; the round tip of the lever has a series of raised circles which act as a grip for the thumb. This object is made up of two parts, the glass base (29a) and the metal lid (29b).
6 UNIM1989.5.7 Pot 4 quart metal pressure cooker with wooden handles. Base pot has a decorative textured ring around the center of the outside and a wooden handle, which has been stained a reddish color, with a metal ring at the end for hanging, "12.50" and "'45" have been written on the top of the handle in yellow paint; inside the pot is a removable metal grate with six, evenly-spaced sets of three slots radiating out from the center. The lid attaches to the base via a twist interlocking mechanism, a brown rubber gasket fits into the lid in order to seal the connection between the pot and lid; the top of the lid has a decorative decorative ring that matches the base, a rubber safety valve, a knob with an opening in the center which is meant to attach to a pressure gauge (gauge is missing), and a oval-shaped metal label plate reading "NATIONAL Presto COOKER; 4 QT.; NATIONAL PRESSURE COOKER CO., EAU CLAIRE, WIS.; PATENT NO. 2218188"; there is a reddish stained wooden handle with a metal ring at the end for hanging. This object is made up of four parts, the pot (5.7a), the lid (5.7b), the grate (5.7c), and the gasket (5.7d).
7 UNIM1989.5.8 Pot Metal steamer pot with lid. Base has two handles on opposing sides, under each handle is a welded seam; the bottom of the base is attached via welding, there are 16 holes stamped through the metal in circular patterns radiating out from the center. The lid is slightly dome shaped and has a rim that fits into the pot to create a better seal and a single handle welded onto the top center. There are several dents and scrapes in the metal as well as general discoloration. This object is made up of two parts, the base (5.8a) and the lid (5.8b).
