Plaited design formed in diagonal directions with stylized geometric designs of X's, squares, zig-zags, crosses plaited in. 34 rectangles of alternating colors. Boxes are symmetrically arranged, 17 on each side, into two rows. At the top and bottom of the two rows are two long rectangles with a plaid design. Bottom mat diagonally plaited with re-dyed fibers and re-plaited design. Color: PK,GR,WH,TN,YL
7 2003.16.13 Textile, Ceremonial Rectangular shape, composed of two sections hand-sewn together in the middle with white thread. Edges have a striping pattern that runs lengthwise down the textile while the center contains several repeating geometric patterns. One end of the textile has a repeating pattern that alternates between heart and diamond shapes. The fringe on the ends is short with a blue and white braid embroidered approximately one inch above the fringe. Some design implements resemble 2003.16.4. Betty LaDuke's book, Women Artists: Multicultural Visions" indicates that this design is Chinese and N. Vietnamese in origin (6). Color: CR,RD,BR,YL,BL
