3 1997.27.1A Pullover Sleeveless garment that is put on by placing over the head. Made of long narrow woven strips. Strips are machine stitched together along their long axis to form a large rectangular garment. The neckline & chest are tan & light brown machine embroidered to form a stylized & geometric form. Tan embroidery around vertical pocket slits on front are 1 1/4" wide. Woven strips repeat in a pattern of purple, cream, metallic gold, cream & purple. 1/2" x 1/4" holes woven into design of strips. The back of the garment has a tan embroidered spiral beginning at the neckline & ending in the center of the back. The spiral encloses an embroidered circle. Also on back just below center of neckline is a tan embroidered oval with two pointed ends.
4 1997.27.1B Pants Pants, same material & woven strips as a. The waist band is made of white cotton sewn to the strips. The waist band is 7" wide & includes pockets. The bottom of the legs have 12 1/8" cuffs. The cuffs are made of embroidered tan & light brown material and make up stylized geometric designs, including several spirals
5 1997.27.2A Top Sleeveless garment worn by pulling on over the head. Garment is made of long, narrow woven strips of cotton 8 7/8" wide. These strips are machine stitched together along their long axes to form a large flared rectangular garment. Each piece of material has alternating stripes of purple & brown. Stripes measure 1" for purple and 1 1/2" for brown stripes. The neckline of the garment has green stitching going around it and down to the chest. The chest & stomach area have stitched green geometric designs, 11 in all. The center has two pockets with openings 5 1/2" x 1". The back has the same geometric designs, just below the neck, as is seen on the front. The armholes and bottom of the garment have different cotton of red and white stripes around the openings. The pockets & inside neck area are lined with blue cotton. Color: BR,PR,BL,GR
6 1997.27.2B Pants Pants are of the same material & design as a. & c. Waist band is blue cotton and is 3 3/4" wide. Waist band is constructed with elastic. The front waist band has a triangle cut out where the elastic can be pulled to tighten the waist of the pants Color: BR,PR,BL,GR

8 2009.2.65 Kente Woven strip cloth blanket with varying strips and patterens and fringe. Each strip is about an inch in width, and each pattern varies in size. The first pattern after the initial fringe is inside 2 small strips of BK with WH lines and spots. Between those is a strip of RD and WH being the background and the RD makes diamonds. The next pattern has the BK and WH design, then a strip of RD. Between that is YL and BK patterns of diamonds. Next pattern has the BK and WH, then RD/WH/BK diamonds. 10 2009.2.68 Kente 13 rectangular patterned strips, sewn together only every few inches. Majority of strips are BK/WH boxes. Patterns vary from each strip, usually following every other one. All strips have a familiar connecting pattern every so often. Each strip is about 3 inches long.
