The letter mentions several schools nears Cedar Rapids, taxes, and salaries. The author appears to have been a teacher. Color: BK,WH From the Aletha Jacobs Hutchison collection. Elmer W. Hutchison was Aletha's husband. Aletha taught in several counties in Iowa before moving to Pennsylvania in 1922. She taught in Hummelstown High School, Dauphin County, PA while living in Harrisburg from 1922-1924.
2	1997.8.18	Announcement	Announcement of summer session in penmanship "For Supervisors and Teachers of Writing, Grade, High School and Commercial Teachers". Held in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa, from June 8 through July 31, 1914. Under the management of the Cedar Rapids Business College. Palmer Method School of Penmanship. The contract ran from August 1978 - June 1979, (190 days of service, 180 teaching days) for a total pay of $8000 ($800 per month) and $5000 life insurance fringe benefit. It's signed by the principal, pastor, president/chairman of the Board of Education, and the teacher.

5	RSC-LI-6	Photography	Color photo of the Abbe Creek brick schoolhouse in Mount Vernon, Linn County, Iowa. In the photo, the schoolhouse's windows (2 per side) are covered with white wood. It sits directly beside an old cemetery, whose gravestones are in the foreground of the photo - the most visible dating from 1870. The photo was taken by William Huebener for the Iowa State Fair circa 2006.
