24 RSC-PW-1 Photography Sheet of 9 color photos of the Monroe Subdistrict 8 school in Walnut, Iowa, which now is used as a museum for the Walnut Historical Society. Photo #1 shows the front of the school, including the school bell on a pole and a water pump. Photo #2 shows 2 shelves of objects that would've been used in the school including a baseball, glove, and bat, a white ball, a pair of horseshoes, and a pair of white roller-skates. Photo #3 shows another 2 shelves that are holding a series of lunch boxes, a bucket, three metal cups, and a white crock acting as a drink dispenser with a tap. Photo #4 shows the washroom with wood paneling on the walls, a small, simple rectangular mirror, and a large, white basin next to a white and orange striped towel.  Photo #5 shows the large black wood furnace surrounded by a basket of corn cobs and a bucket of coal. Behind it is a table with books and a large window. Photo #6 shows the table from the 5th photo and the books. Photo #7 shows a corner of the classroom that has a raised sandbox table, a globe, and a bulletin board with black and white photos. 25 RSC-PW-2A Photograph Sheet of 4 color photos of the Big Grove school (Garner #3) outside Walnut, Iowa. It is preserved as part of the Big Grove Village, though it was possibly moved to this location from near Council Bluffs. The photos, from top left to right, are: Photo #1: the white, wooden schoolhouse with a bell in the bell tower. The school has 3 windows on the side visible to the camera and a simple yellow door with a small window above it. Photo #2: a blue and white striped ceramic crock with a tap and a ceramic cup wired underneath the tap with metal piping running below the desk on which it all sits. Photo #3: A wallpapered wall of the classroom with a hurricane oil lamp hanging on it. Below it is a bench with several metal buckets, one of which is labeled "lard." Photo #4: A corner of the classroom with a chalkboard and desk with a globe, several books, flowers, and an orrery (solar system tool). There's a message on the chalkboard from a visitor that reads "You girls are great! Thank you much - David B." It is preserved as part of the Big Grove Village, though it was possibly moved to this location from near Council Bluffs. The photos, from top left to right, are: Photo #1: a close-up photo of the desk in Photo #4 of RSC-PW-2A. It shows the orrery (solar system tool) greater detail, as well as the books and globe behind it. Photo #2: A plain wooden desk with a handheld chalkboard on it. Photo #3: The teacher's desk, positioned in front of a door, chalkboards on either side, and a hanging American Flag.  On the desk is a hurricane oil lamp, bell, apple, and wooden paddle. Photo #4: A wallpapered wall of the classroom with a closet that is holding several dozen books and a rolled-up map or poster.
