1 1989.43.560.16 Seed's Dry Plates Box The structural integrity of the box is still there, however there is discoloration all over the box as well as fraying/tearing of the edges and corners (these areas are very brittle). The word "Bragg" is written in pencil, along with an unreadable phrase written vertically on the right side of the top of the box. Details of stamps still in tact. English immigrant Miles Ainscoe Seed settled in St. Louis, Missouri in 1867. In his spare time, Seed experimented with photographic negatives which eventually led to the creation of the "Seed Dry Plate" in 1879. Seed's Dry Plates were beloved by photographers for their ease of travel and convenience with developing photos. In 1902 Eastman Kodak purchased Mr. Seed's company, and he retired shortly thereafter. 1989.43.560.16 (Seed's Dry Plates Box) image
