21 1994.10.25 Postcard Depicts a man and woman facing each other with a silver horseshoe partially encircling them. The man has dark hair, is wearing a black jacket with tails - a red flower on the lapel; a white shirt, red striped tie, green pants, and black shoes. He is holding a pink rose behind his back. The woman has long dark hair swept up, is wearing a long white dress with long sleeves and a high collar; and brown high button shoes. She is holding a four leaf clover and hanging on to the man's lapels. Two green and gray birds are sitting at the lower center of the horsehoe, a cluster of flowers tied on with a ribbon is near one end of the horseshoe. One flower has fallen to the ground "To my Valentine" is printed in black in the upper left corner. Back has Cedar Falls, Iowa postmark from 10 A. M. February 16, 1909. Postmark resembles United States flag, has a green one cent stamp of Benjamin Franklin. Addressed to "Alice Wynegar, City (c/o F. Wynegar, Main St.). Message reads "from Orwell". 22 1994.10.26 Card, greeting Depicts boy and girl from behind looking at a yellow moon. A branch with pink flowers and green leaves extends over their heads. Boy has arm around girl, girl has her head on his shoulder. Boy has brown hair, is wearing a blue and white plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up; red suspenders with a yellow fastener; a brown belt; gray pants with two slash back pockets and a white patch on the seat. Girl has braided yellow hair tied with a red ribbon; is wearing a white dress with small pink hearts and larger red hearts on it; red collar, cuffs, and waistband. She is holding a pink rose in her right hand. The two are seated on a round green area. Printed in black under them is "Next to Myself I Like You Best". Two red hearts with a yellow arrow through them are below that. Top border is gold, bottom border is a red stripe with gold beneath it. Sides have a slight wave to their cut. 23 1994.10.27 Postcard Depicts a cartoon image of a young girl looking at a quarter moon. Are also four yellow stars in the sky. Girl has a few yellow curls, showing, wearing red and white hat, white shirt, blue vest, blue plaid skirt, gray shoes with red trim. A green umbrella with a yellow tip is to one side of her. Green tress and a yellow fence are behind her. Artist names, Mabel Luice Attwell is printed in lower right corner. Background is black, then yellow border, border of white with a larger area at bottom then border of white around all. Printed in brown on yellow section "With Heart That's True I'll Wait For You". 24 1994.10.28 Postcard Depicts five elves on rollerskates. One has fallen down on another and the others are watching. They are all wearing red pointed hats; three have green shirts and red pants, two have red shirts and green pants. One is wearing a red and green scarf. "Glaedelig Jull" is printed in red in the upper left corner. Vague imprints of a postmark are on the upper right side. The stamp has been removed from the back. It is addressed to "Miss Alice Wynegar, Main Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa, U. S. A." The message written in black reads "Dear Alice: A Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year from your old friend, Eva." Near bottom in different handwriting "Gulbergsgade 127 Copenhagen." In blue ink after the name Eva Johnson whose grandparents lived 12th & Washington. 25 1994.10.29 Postcard Purple border. On right side embossed into paper are flowers, an egg, a bird, and the words "Best Easter Wishes. The words, flower center and stems and the bird are gold. Printed in purple on the left side "The world itself keeps Easter day. And Easter larks are singing; And Easter flow'rs are blooming gay. And Easter bells are ringing." 26 1996.22.28 Postcard "Dear Little Parman". 1 year. There is a poem following the intoduction, and is concluded by "Lovingly Yours, Mrs. Carl Atkins - Cradle Roll Department Superintendent." One child, one candle, and a bed are pictured at the top of the card. The top of the card has a blue background while the rest of the card has a white background. The upper right hand corner on the back has a Franklin one cent stamp upside down. It is stamped "Hazen, Jan. 14, 1931- N. Dakota." Addressed to "Miss Parman Johnson." 27 1996.22.29 Postcard "Dear Little Lois - 4 years". There is a poem following the intoduction and is concluded by "Lovingly Yours, Mrs. Earl Atkins - Cradle Roll Department Superintendent." 28 1996.22.30 Postcard "Best Wishes.". Shows white walls and gates, which are open. Many roses are sitting on the right wall and some are leading in a path towards the bottom of the card. A letter is written on the back of the card and is addressed to Mr. Albert Reed, Oskaloosa, Iowa. It is written in pencil. A Washington 1 cent stamp is pasted sideways on the upper right hand corner of the back. 10c written in upper right corner of back. 29 1996.22.31 Postcard "Best Wishes." Off-white background with 3 purple flowers in the center of the card. The impression of each flower is pressed into the card. Small flowers are pressed into each corner of the front. However, the flowers in the corners have no color. There is gold trim along the outside of the card. The back of the postcard is stamped and has a Franklin one cent stamp on the upper right hand corner. Letter and address are on back. 1.00 written in upper right hand corner of back. 30 1996.22.32 Postcard "Thanksgiving Day Greetings - I welcome this good season of mellow fruitfulness as just one more occasion to wish you happiness." Front of card shows a pink house at night. On the house property there are trees and a white picket fence. Outside of the picture of the house are autumn leaves of red, yellow, and green. The border of the front is a trim of gold. 32 1996.22.34 Postcard "Birthday Greetings." Front of card has one rose imprinted into the card. Stem of flower is green while the rest of the flower is pink. The flower is encircled by a trim of gold. "Birthday Greetings" is written at the bottom of the front. The back of the card is posted and marked, but there is no stamp. 33 1996.22.36 Postcard "Greeting Sincere." Front of card has two horses and their riders hunting. Two dogs are with them and the rider in the middle of the picture has an aristocratic hunting outfit on. The front of the card is different shades blue with some white, There is a vine growing on the G in "greeting." On the back the card is addressed to "Mrs. P. 34 1996.22.37 Postcard "A Merry Christmas." Card is mostly white with a green fireplace at the bottom of the card. A fire is burning in the fireplace and the pillars are white. Two cats are in front of the fireplace, and one is playing with a red ball. A red and green lamp is at the top of the card. 15c is written in pencil on the back side. 35 1996.22.38 Postcard "Best Christmas Wishes." White background on the front with rectagular picture of a house in a winter envrironment. The house is covered with snow and has rail fences in front of the yard and trees in the background. A holly leaf and a red badge with bells are also on the front. On the back of the postcard there is scribbling on the right side and cursive writing on the left side in pencil. "Albert Reed from Kenneth." 10c is written in pencil on the back side. 36 1996.22.39 Postcard "A Merry Christmas" is printed on white fabric with a white background. There are holly leaves and holly berries that surround a brown wishbone. The wishbone is tied at the top with blue string which extends to the bottom of the card. 37 1996.22.40 Card, Valentine "To My Valentine". Valentine with charms so sweet, I lay this at your feet." A young girl is sitting on a rock with her arms rested on her knees and her chin resting on her hands. She has dark hair and blue eyes and seems very sad. Two white birds are seen flying on each side of her and the top of the card is trimmed with gold stars. The background is blue and the card is a pop-up.
