Portrait of "Ferdosi", an ancient poet. Carpet is trimmed with fringe around rop and bottom. Border made of natural color yarn. Woven pattern border around picture varies in size; approx. 2 1/2" around top and both sides and 2" around bottom. "Ferdosi" is clad in brown cloak and white and grey flowing turban wrapped around head and left shoulder. Figure has black beard and various colors woven in for facial features. Dark and light greens make up background for poet, in which his name is written in brown letters. The weaver did such a neat job the carpet is reversible, turning the figure the opposite way. "Ferdosi" is woven facing the right.
