Teachers six-month certificate for Aletha Jacobs of Buchanan County and record that she attended the Normal Insitute that was held in April 1902, for six days. Signed by M. J. Goodrich, the county superintendent, in Independance, Iowa, on April 1, 1902. The page has a decorative boarder and illustrations of an eagle, floral motifs, and three women. Printed by W. M. Welch Co., Chicago.

Aletha Hutchison Jacobs, born in Buchannan County, Iowa, was a teacher for rural schools in Benton County (1900-1902), Buchanan County (1902-1910), Black Hawk County (1912-1916), Grundy County (1916-1920), Wright County (1920-1921), and Webster County (1922). In 1922 she moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Elmer. There she taught at Hummelstown High School in Dauphin County (1922-1924) and Reamstown School in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County (1926-1960).
