Teachers certificate booklet certifying Aletha Jacobs to teach first grade in any Iowa school, valid for three years. Signed by J. F. Riggs, the president of the Educational Board of Examiners, in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 1st, 1907. The certificate was made valid for Buchanan County from Nov. 1, 1907-July 1, 1910, signed by county superintendents P. C. Arildson and G. R. Lockwood. The two inner pages have a thick, black, decorative boarder, the front cover have a small, circular illustration with a flag, and the back cover lists examination scores.

Aletha Hutchison Jacobs, born in Buchannan County, Iowa, was a teacher for rural schools in Benton County (1900-1902), Buchanan County (1902-1910), Black Hawk County (1912-1916), Grundy County (1916-1920), Wright County (1920-1921), and Webster County (1922). In 1922 she moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Elmer. There she taught at Hummelstown High School in Dauphin County (1922-1924) and Reamstown School in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County (1926-1960).
