Riggs, the president of the Educational Board of Examiners, in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 1st, 1907. The certificate was made valid for Buchanan County from Nov. 1, 1907-July 1, 1910, signed by county superintendents P. C. Arildson and G. R. Lockwood. The two inner pages have a thick, black, decorative boarder, the front cover have a small, circular illustration with a flag, and the back cover lists examination scores.
Aletha Hutchison Jacobs, born in Buchannan County, Iowa, was a teacher for rural schools in Benton County (1900-1902), Buchanan County (1902-1910), Black Hawk County (1912-1916), Grundy County (1916-1920), Wright County (1920-1921), and Webster County (1922). In 1922 she moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Elmer. There she taught at Hummelstown High School in Dauphin County (1922-1924) and Reamstown School in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County (1926-1960).
