Lynn Cutler ran for congress in Iowa for two consecutive election years, both times against the Republican candidate Cooper Evans. Both in 1980 and in 1982 she was defeated by Evans by only a small percentage of the votes. Cutler has done a number of impressive things throughout her political career, including being appointed as the Vice Chair of the U.S. Commission on Intergovernmental Relations by President Jimmy Carter, Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff for Native Americans and Special Projects, and Senior Advisor to the Vice President for Women's Issues.
