1990.44.14 (Bullet)

American Civil War era musket ball, used in smooth bore muskets. The object is a rough sphere made out of lead; there are a few areas that have been worn flat as well as a large slash and a prominent ridge present on the surface of the bullet. There is some minor corrosion beginning on the surface of the object, this is lead carbonate and is a common sign of age in lead items as it is often caused by long-term exposure to carbon dioxide
