2004.20.5 (Medal, commemorative)

Round. Bas relief of American Revolution soldier holding a rifle in one hand and a flag in the other. A plow is behind him, and thirteen stars. Around the edge is the inscription "Iowa State society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Organized Sept. 5, 1893." On the back is a bas relief of a feather pen, and the engraved words, " 1912. Awarded to Vina Younker" and "For excelling in the study of history of the United States." Cardboard card attached to medal with a green string that has written on it "History medal won in 1912, freshman history major, by Vina Younker, Dorothy Jean Tostlebe Ray's mother. Color: BZ,GR,WH
