The Luba is carved from a single calabash, bottle gourd. Three-quarter female figure with splayed breasts embellishes the stem of the pipe; she wears a complex coiffure that is adjoined with the stem of the pipe by fiber wrapping. Her body is adorned with horizontal scarification. A single bowl protrudes from the front of the bulbous calabash body.
