The gold border and designs on the Iowa flag are all slightly raised. The sides of the medallion are gold. The back of the medallion has a black background with a thin gold border around the edges. The top line of text is "PANTHER BATTALION" in gold across the top of the medallion. Below that are 3 logos. First is the purple and gold UNI Athletics Logo ("UNI" above a panther that faces right). Second is another purple and gold logo (Purple shield with a gold sword inside pointed straight up and gold leaves on either side of the hilt at the bottom. Below is a purple and gold banner with "LUX" written on it). The third logo is for the University of Dubuque Athletics (Blue "UD" with the spartan mascot facing left so the mohawk is the outer edge of the "D"). In the bottom half of the back side of the medallion is text on three lines. Line one says "2LT Robert J. Hibbs (MOH)". The second line says "2LT Richard B. Gienau (OIF)." The third line says "CPT Matthew G. Nielson (OND)." Below the names is a gold rectangle 1 cm wide centered horizontally.
