2 2008.2.0001 Hat A large circular shape, there is about a 3" patchwork pattern alternating between plain and floral cloth all the way around the rim. An inch of geometric bead patterns are above that every 10 1/2" around there is a beaded leaf of palm tree shape. A large RD cross shape comes down from the middle of the hat, the 4 points resemble a fleur de lis, the cross is bordered by alternating YL and BK beads. The very point has 8 beaded stings of various colors. 3 have bells, one has a metal circle, 2 have small bits of cloth, one has no adornment. About 2 1/4" from these strings is a beaded circle of BL, YL, and WH Color: RD, BL, YL, GR
3 2008.2.0002 Hat A large circle mostly RD and light BL, theres about a 2" wide strip of alternating cloth colors all the way around the bottom edge about every 8.5" a plant design occurs. Next a large RD x shape takes up most of the hats middle, the x shape has intricatly curving points and is boardered in alternating BK and WH. One of the 4 points has about 5" of BL beads instead of BK one a tringaular point, a WH, BK, and YL cross shape is in the middle of each of the large X's points and above these cross shapes are much smaller crosses in GR and YL, also between the x pionts are alternating colors connecting them about half way up their points. On the hats very tip is a large 8 pointed star finged with small beaded portions of string. The inside of the star is beaded in geometric patterns of various colors in the very middle. 7 strings of beads about 3" long. Color: RD, BL, YL, WH 2008.2.0002 (Hat) image
4 2008.2.0003 Hat A large circle predominantly YL. 3" wide strip of cloth of alternating solid colors. 6 strips, about 5.5" long, contain 4 beaded 8 sided stars. One strip is about 5" long and has 3 stars. One strip has name of maker, NYiPAN AK LABANG. Above these strips is 1" of beaded fringe coming from triangles pointing down. 1/3" of green beads are above this and circle all the way around, above this a circle of YL beads. 1/2" of beaded triangles are above these two strips of beads and alternate colors. Above this is 3 1/2" of yellow beaded background with 10 geometric human figures. Below the figures are small beaded triangles. Above this, a circle about 4.5" in diameter, with various colored beads as border. On the top a 10 pointed star shape, center of star is a circle with diameter of 1.5". At very top are 8 beaded strings, 3" long. About half have small metal bells, while other half have small disks. Color: BL, RD, YL, GR
5 2008.2.10 Skirt On the top and bottom, 2 1/4" of bright colors: RD, GR, WH, YL-striped design. Between these section is a muted BR and ivory tones with geometric line pattern. Color: BR, BK, WH, RD
6 2008.2.11 Skirt Cloth's edges are sewn together. At top and bottom, 4 1/2" each, a line design with BK, RD, YL, GR, WH colors. Between these is a star pattern going vertically, each row is a solid color and alternate row colors from WH, PR, RD, WL, GR with a black background. Rows are 11 1/2" long. Color: BK, RD, YL, PR
7 2008.2.12 Blanket Top and bottom have a design, 3 3/4" of strips alternating colors from BR, WH, and BL. Left and right sides are frayed and a braid or BL and WH, 1 3/4". Rest of cloth has a repeating pattern of reddish brown background with ivory geometric line design. There's a stitch that goes through middle. Color: BR, WH, BL, BK
8 2008.2.13 Dart Blowgun dart with thin shaft-darker brown and is a little over 8 1/2". Shaft comes to a sharp point. Head of dart is light brown and 1/2" long and wider than the shaft. Head has a hole going through middle where shaft fits into and sticks out a bit on the other side. Color: BR
9 2008.2.4 Sword A. Blade is one sided with black scratches and marks on both sides. Handle then has 2 1/2" of woven wicker then 3 1/4" of carved wood. Animal head on hilt. B. Front of sheath is elaborately decorated with wicker and wood carvings. Middle section has a wicker ball that sticks out 3/4". Different shades of brown ranging from light brown to reddish brown. On reverse side of sheath, a belt loop that's woven wicker, it's 17" long. There's a piece of wood that's attached and it's 18" long. Color: BR, BK
10 2008.2.5 Dart Thin shaft-dark brown that's a little over 8 1/2". Shaft comes to a sharp point. Head of dart is light brown and 1/2" long and wider than the shaft. Head has a hole going through the middle where shaft fits into and sticks out a bit on the other side. Color: BR
11 2008.2.6 Blowgun The wooden tube has a 1/4" tube wide hole that goes, from end to end, for the dart. On one of the ends is a blade, that is attached with woven wood, which is 5 1/2" long. 12 2008.2.7 Blowgun Constructed from iron wood (called tabalien or ulin) Used in hunting small and large animals. A slight taper from one end to the other. At both ends, 1/2" wide hole for darts. Wood has a pattern of light brown uniform lines. Balleh River/Nangentawan/Sarawak/Borneo
