10 1998.20.22 Tile Square piece of green tile. On back is piece of dark green felt. White paper patterns (appear to be flowers) have been pasted on. They were discarded patterns that were once on a mosque floor in Iran. Color: GR,WH
11 1998.20.23 Lamp, oil Small oil lamp with thick round handle and long spout. Most of glaze gone on handle and only bits of glaze remain inside spout. Around container bowl are indentations in clay, probably were once designs. Again a small bit of glaze remains inside bowl, and some around rim, tip of bowl and a bit on the bottom. Color: GR,WH
12 1998.20.25 Tile "Skeleton" of mosaic piece. Design is there, but "filler" pieces (the inserts of differently colored ceramic) have not yet been added. They are hollow. The borders around the spaces for filler pieces is painted blue; the rest of the tile is white ceramic. 4 "petals" on each side, with a rounded bottom and pointed top. Color: WH,BL
13 1998.20.26 Tile Finished piece of tile; shape appears to be a flower. Borders are painted dark blue. Outer filler pieces are somewhat shaped like triangles and alternate colors of white and brown. Two of the inner filler pieces are half moons colored light blue with a green oval just above them, off center. 4 "petals" are on each side, with a curved bottom and pointed top - of the whole mosaic piece. 14 1998.20.7 Case, pen Three parts. a. Case. Long, curved at both ends like an oval. Bottom is red, sides are black with gold scrolling. Can't tell what pictures represent. Top is black with more gold scrolling on ends. Center has an arrangment of 3 flowers (possibly roses; 2 pink and red, middle one yellow and blue) surrounded by green leaves. Next to leaves on ends are pink swirls. Inside of box pulls out at one end. Inside is holder for pens and dried up inkwell under iron piece - chunks of ink still inside. Inside completely black. b. Broken pen. One end stained black with ink. Pen itself is wood and brown colored. c. Metal tip dipped in inkwell. Black, extremely rusty. Color: ML
15 1998.20.8 Jar, cosmetics Case to store kohl (mascara) for the eyelashes. Bottom of the case is shaped like a tear drop, with the point at the bottom, curving to the left. At the top of the teardrop is a stem where the opening is. The upper pieces used to apply the kohl screws into this stem. The applicator is a long narrow piece of metal at one end, with the shape of a triangle at the other end. The triangle has lines carved into both sides for decoration and a hole at each of the points. The piece is made of some type of very shiny metal. Color: SL 1998.20.8 (Jar, cosmetics) image
