| 2 | 1993.37.34 | Skullcap | Hat, man's velour; No brim. Black thread around side edges of the hat then gold thread then royal blue velour surrounds the side. On the front one-third of the hat is gold rickrack in the shape of a rectangle. Sequins dot the rickrack. Inside is another rectangle with red, blue gold border designs. Within the rectangle is a zig-zag with the same red, blue and gold border. Within each triangle that is formed with the zig-zag border design are sequins, six in each triangle. Each triangle has different colored sequins in a gold, red, green sequential pattern 3 times. A green moon sign is in the 6th triangle from the right. The top of the hat is bordered at the edge with orange rickrack and the top is covered in a silky-corduroy-like fabric. The fabric is decorated with red roses, yellow daisies and some kind of pink flowers. Leaves are also depicted. The hat is very stiff. It is lined with navy blue cotton-like material with designs of moons around the side and flowers in the bottom. Some of the bottom lining is pulling away, exposing black and white flower designed fabric. "Azerbaijan, Iran" is written in black permanent marker on gree iron-on fabric and is attached to the hat. Grants' cataloguing number "16086" is written in black ink on white paper and is taped opposite the Azerbaijan label. Color: ML |

At the edge is a series of inverted peaks around the hat, then step pyramids that are alternately inverted, then a horizontal line, then a series of abstract flower designs using triangles to depict them, then the inverted peaks again. The top is bordered with a braid design, then the peaks, then the abstract flower designs, the peaks and a less abstract flower in the center. The inside top is lined with red,white & blue fabric. The sides are lined with pink, green, and blue floral designed fabric. Blue plastic tape borders the inside edge.
