RSC-FIC-21 (Map)

Titled "Division of North America Among the Nations" part of the "Sanford-Gordy American History Series: with European Background and Beginnings." Published by A. J. Nystrom & Co., Chicago. It is divided into two maps (labeled A and B), each with their own inset maps (labeled with lower case a's and b's). Map A, "European Claims and Settlements in North America 1750," shows the boundaries for territory owned by England, France, and Spain as well as territory lost by France in 1713. It also shows English forts and French forts, trading posts, and portages. A's inset map, "a", titled, "North America - 1750," shows a zoomed-out view of the continent, divided into English, French, Spanish, and unexplored territories. Map B, "French and Indian War, European Possessions in North America 1763," shows Braddock's route and area settled by 1763. B's inset map "a," "The Siege of Quebec 1759," shows the positions, routes, and important battles of the British and French in the Lawrence River and surrounding area. B's inset map "b," "North America - 1763," shows a zoomed-out view of the continent broken up into English, Spanish, and unexplored territories. The map folds down into its attached (the back is separated), white folder titled "SG8 Division of N. A." and "Nystrom Maps and chart for Teaching of the Social Studies." Unfolded it measures approximately 97cm tall x 124cm wide. It is undated, but the other maps in this series are dated 1937.
