Horace Boies was a Democratic convert after the Republican party started supporting prohibition and high tariffs. He served as a democratic Governor of Iowa from 1890-1894. In 1892, Boies ran as a presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention and came in third. He did not pursue the presidency again. This ribbon is in support of Boies for president during the Democratic National Convention.
