This is a Mexican "chivo" or goat mask. It is used for a ritual dance called the Dance of the Goats. This mask has a human face with pink skin, a black beard, and red cheeks. There are two eye slits with painted eyelashes. There is a carved open smile with red paint on the lips for the mouth. The mask contains a long curling nose that is painted yellow, red and green. The mask also features two horns on the side of the mask which are painted appropriately. Between the two horns is a length of string that has green, red, and brown ribbons hanging vertically. There is a hole in the center of the forehead and one hole on each side of the mask.
