"The Beacon First Reader" by James H. Fassett. 160 pp. Illus in color and in b/w. There are 3 parts. The first part contains stories such as "This Little Pig Went to Market", "Old Mother Hubbard", "Chicken Licken", etc. The second part has "The Little Red hen", "Twinkle, Twinkle", "Mary Had a Little lamb", etc. The 3rd part is a phonetic table. The cover of the book is dark green and has a black flowery pattern going around it. In the center is "The Beacon First Reader." Under this is a candlestick-like object. The cover drawings are worn so it is hard to see the picture clearly. The inside cover page has written n pencil "Ethel Flom, Wesley, Iowa 1927, 45" Below this are some scribbles. There is also scribbling on the inside cover. The back cover page has written in pencil "good, good, good, good, good." There is also "good" written in red crayon.
