In the center is a stand with an orb on top of it with flames and smoke rising up behind the title. On the binding is "Beacon Third Reader", "Fasset" and "Ginn and Company" on the bottom. The back is blank and is stained white, possibly from wear. A pencil mark is near the top left corner on the back cover. The front cover, binding and edges have also worn with age and have white spots. On the inside front cover is handwritten "Muriel Johnson Steimez, Jan. 1922 and 51.
