A wooden cigar box for “Gem of the West” nickel cigars, used as a school election ballot box, with red decorative paper glued to the wood. The interior of the box shows two women standing in the center of a western landscape, with a baby and a bald eagle flanking. A rough rectangular hole has been cut in the top of the box. Some pencil markings on both exterior and interior of box. Originally contained ballots on three different votes: school president, sale of a former schoolhouse site, and a bond issue for schoolhouse construction.
