This mask is from the Guro people of the Ivory Coast. Starting with the face, there are two carved eye slits that are diagonal with line carvings surrounding them. There are two plain ears that are on each side of the face. The nose is long and skinny, and no nostrils are found. The mouth is more like a beak, and it is holding a fish with it. The dish has patterns and carved fin and eye details. On the cheeks are six raised wood spots. There are three raised portions on the forehead, but the piece has a large scuff or tread mark located above the right eye, sanded down to original wood. The head of the mask features a linear hairdo, and above that is a carved square block followed by a disk, both connected to the piece as they are made of the same wood.
