2021-22-12 (Poem)

Poem written by Gladys Holland titled, "Rationed Christmas" about World War II and how rationing would impact Christmas for her students in the Vinton rural school. It reads:

Has Santa Claus been rationed, too,

On metal and on leather,

And his he having much ado,

To put his toys together?

and will his sugar stamps go far,

Enough for Christmas Candy?

It's fine he doesn't drive a car-

Reindeer should come in handy!

Though all may not be finished quite

The way his plans begin them-

Hang up your stockings Christmas might,

And he'll put something in them!
