2024-1-49 (Patch)

Waffen-SS collar tab from the 15 Waffen Grenadier Division der SS Lettische Number A. This is the second patch used by this division during the War. This was for the 1st Latvian Division which was active between 1943 and 1945. This division had a blank collar tab until 1943 when they were given their first collar tab pattern. This pattern was introduced in late 1944 and is based on the Latvian Army emblem and the Latvian coat of arms. These collar tabs were worn with one on each side of the collar. This patch is the one worn on the soldier's right side. The one on the soldier's left side gave that soldier's rank. The patch is black fabric with the insignia in silver thread in the center. The symbol is a circle with three stars inside it with a bush around it and two curved lines under it.
