x) Photograph of a soldier and two boys. Labeled with "us in Pill Box" (German one). Text is written in black ink. Few creases are visible. The back side has horizontal lines on the printing paper. Handwritten note in the source file says: "These 2 little boys father was a French sailor. They live in a signal house near the top of the cliff. About the top of m hat. They sure liked to tag along / This cliff is 2 to 300 ft high. Our station was about the top of my hat.". A second note says: "The shed with life preserves on it contains 2 large diesel engines to generate power. One or the other ran 24 hr. a day. The building it is attached to was German built. All cement-with 3 & 4 foot thick walls & roof. The windows are just painted on. This building contained all the transmitters. over. It contained ship type hatch doors. The bad with x is your barracks. Also contained the chow hall. I lived in the one with O above.". Note the "over" in the handwritten note was a cue that there was more writing on the back side, not content-related.
