1 00.31.3.3.1 Match Bundle of 53 wooden match sticks. Matches are split individually but have been attached at the end opposite of the heads, forming a rectangular block that is seven matches by eight matches, although three have been removed, slightly breaking the pattern. The match heads lack the usual red tip but are rounded and have a sulfurous odor. One section of matches has broken off and glued back in place using polyvinyl-acetate. 00.31.3.3.1 (Match) image
2 1976.33 Pick Metal ice pick with wooden handle. Handle is bulb-shaped and has been painted black, there is a bronze-colored metal ring around the bottom. Silver-colored metal pick comes out of the center of the wood handle; pick alone is 42 cm long (51 1/2 cm with handle), thin, and cylindrical; the tip has four flat edges cut out to form a point. There is some slight warping in the center of the pick as well as general wear.
3 UNIM1988.5.26 Tool Two wooden paddles with grooved surface on one side for working butter. Both have rounded handles that come to a very slight point at the end and rectangular heads that are smooth on one side and grooved on the other. 5.26a has a small crack at the top. 5.26b has some darker discoloration on the top left and right of the paddle and "Save- Use for Defrosting Ref." is hand written in black on the back, towards the top of the paddle.
4 UNIM1989.5.23 Slicer Wooden paddle with metal blade, used for slicing vegetables. Handle of paddle is slightly rounded with a flat top, head of paddle is rectangular and has raised sides attached via six metal pins and one large bolt with a thumb screw; paddle head appears to be one piece from the front, but two parts are visible from the back, the two pieces are held together by the attached side pieces, the gap allows for vegetable slices to fall through onto a plate or into a container. The blade is metal and attached on one side via two screws, it and the gap below it are set at an angle near the middle of the head of the paddle. "XS/10-" or "AS/10-" has been hand written in graphite pencil on the bottom of the paddle, just below the gap made for the blade. There is some rust on the blade and screws; the sides are separating from the base in a few areas; the top right pin has begun to come out of the wood. 5 UNIM1989.5.24 Container Set of 12 glass spice jars with metal screw-top lids. Glass is an opaque white with a raised linear design on three sides and a flat area on one side for a label. The jars are rectangular in shape with circular metal lids that screw on, the lids come in a variety of colors. 5.24a: bright green lid with slight scratch damage; 5.24b: light green lid with some scratch damage; 5.24c: muted green lid with minimal scratch damage and one dent; 5.24d: bright green lid with slight scratch damage; 5.24e: bright yellow lid with slight scratch damage and denting; 5.24f: muted yellow lid with some scratching and denting; 5.24g: light yellow lid with minimal scratch damage and one dent; 5.25h: bright yellow lid with almost no scratch damage a a single small dent; 5.24i: red lid with slight scratch damage; 5.24j: red lid with significant discoloration, some scratch damage, and denting; 5.24k: blue lid with significant scratch damage and one dent; 5.24l: black lid with significant scratch damage concentrated in one area.
6 UNIM1992.12.37 Saccharometer Glass instrument used to measure the density of sugar solutions at 60 F, most commonly used in the production of alcohol. At the very bottom is a bulb with a nib inside of which are several very small black ball bearings; above the bulb is a 13cm empty cylinder which tapers up to a very thin cylinder containing paper printed with the numbers used in measuring, this smaller cylinder is 12cm long. The paper contained within the thinner cylinder has both wide and small dash marks, numbers marking the wider dash marks start at the top at "0" and counts by twos up to "24" at the bottom of this thin area; There is a thin red line encircling the cylinder towards the top, it is marking the number "2"; "Balling's Saccharometer; Temp. 60° F." is printed along the side of the measuring marks. Object is contained in its original box which is brown and very visibly worn, there is water damage and discoloration in several places and the base has two pieces of masking tape being used to hold it together. This object has multiple parts, the saccharometer (12.37a), the box lid (12.37b), and the box base (12.37c).
