From top to bottom it reads: "City Board of School Examiners of Dayton, Ohio, Do Hereby Certify That Helen Edgeter has represented satisfactory testimonials of good moral character, and sustained an examination which gives evidence that she possesses an adequate knowledge of the Theory and Practice of Teaching, and is qualified to teach Reading, Writing, Orthography, Arithmetic, Geography, English Grammar, English Literature, and United States History.
