RSC-Ohio-157 (Certificate)

Teaching certificate for Helen Edgeter, from Dayton, Ohio, 1887. In the bottom left corner, it lists her exam results from ten subjects. The bottom right corner has the signatures of three school examiners. Printed by Sweetman Printer, Dayton, Ohio. It has a decorative border and one illustration near the top that shows several items relating to school subjects like a compass, glove, books, etcetera. The back reads "Helen Edgeter, Expires May 28, 1890."

From top to bottom it reads: "City Board of School Examiners of Dayton, Ohio, Do Hereby Certify That Helen Edgeter has represented satisfactory testimonials of good moral character, and sustained an examination which gives evidence that she possesses an adequate knowledge of the Theory and Practice of Teaching, and is qualified to teach Reading, Writing, Orthography, Arithmetic, Geography, English Grammar, English Literature, and United States History. This Certificate to be valid for the period of three year from this 28th day of May 1887." Signed H. G. Marshall, J. J. Burn, and Chas. L. Loos Jr.
