This is a Mexican "Janus" mask. Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways and he is portrayed by the mask having two faces, pointing in opposite directions. The right side of the mask is green and the left side is yellow. Both sides feature a painted eye in the socket, an eyehole under the painted eyebrow, a carved nose, red cheeks with black and white painted lines, a mouth with red lips, and a painted eye on the chin of each. Above each mouth is a painted mustache. There is a small hole in the top center of the forehead. This mask is carved out of wood and there is some damage on the raised parts of the mask.
