Face mask of this style from the Chokwe people in Angola represent young women and female ancestors. They are representative of ideal feminine beauty. This particular mask has a stylized coiffure with exaggerated, carved projections. The almond shaped eyes are mere slits for openings, the long, narrow nose bridge leads to small flared nostrils, and a open mouth with triangular pointed teeth. There are remains of a braided, fibrous headdress attached to the back of the mask.
