12 ED2021-119 Stereoscope A stereoscope from the early twentieth century. The eyepiece is made from a silver metal and contains a floral design and the words "sun sculpture trademark" across the top. On the piece of wood that divides the eyepiece is a black sticker which reads "Property of Iowa State Teachers College." On the end of the stereoscope is a small, white sticker which says "12." 21 ED2021-139 Cup and Ball Toy A cup and ball toy with one cup and one ball. The main color of the toy is tan with a blue stripe around the bottom of the cup, a green stripe around the middle of the cup, and a red stripe around the opening of the cup. A dip pen, unlike a fountain pen, must continuously re-dip into ink while writing in order to replenish the ink on the pen. This particular nib was targeted towards school children. 26 ED2021-145 Slate Pencils A set of three slate pencils (A-C) from the late nineteenth century. The bottom of the pencils are gray and the top sections are wrapped in an American flag design. Children used these writing utensils to write on their slates in school. This method was much cheaper than writing on paper as students could erase their boards after showing the teacher their work. 27 ED2021-147 School Bell A handheld school bell. The handle is black and the bell is a dark, brassy color with green oxidation marks starting to appear. Inside of the bell is a metal weight attached to a metal hook which swings back and forth to make noise.
