42	1997.5.20B	Headwrap	Dress (A) and headwrap (B). Fabric is hand tie-dyed, mottled blue with bursts of red centered with black. a. Dress is floor length, unconstructed, with scoop neck and extended shoulders. Made of one length of fabric seamed at the sides and folded crosswise to form shoulder line. Narrow turned up hem at bottom, sleeve edges and neckline. Chain stitich machine embroidery in white and yellow forms yoke 8 - 10" wide. Fabric in this area underlined with nonwoven interfacing. b. Headwrap. Same fabric, with narrow machine-stitched hem at ends, selvedge on both sides, and center seam the entire length. Machine chain stitch design, underlined, is of concentric yellow rings with loops at outside and white scallope line at outer edge. Color: BL,RD,BK,WH,YL
43	1998.10.1	Serape	Red and white stripes. Plain garment that has slit cut in center for head to fit through. Along rhe sides of the garment is a red stripe 1/4" wide that has purple wool sewn it it. At the bottom of the garment are red and white fringe 3 7/8" long hanging down. Color: PK,RD
44	1998.19.34	Cloth, tapa	There are two types of diamonds on the cloth. The first type begins with brown ink drawn on the shape of a diamond, then two inner blue lines also in the shape of a diamond, set against white. The center of the diamond has blue lines drawn in the shape of an "M". There are two of them and they reflect one another. The rest of the diamond-shaped center is blue, with a white rectangle on either side. A brown line is drawn through the diamond. The second type has similar brown and blue outer lines as the first. Inside these lines are blue lines arranged in a step pattern and resemble a diamond. Inside the step diamond are two brown triangles, facing one another, with a vertical blue line drawn between them. These two styles of diamonds are arranged in an alternating pattern, with the first style in one horizontal row, then below it is the second style in a horizontal row below it. Connecting the tips of the diamonds in each row is a solid brown diamond, and the sides of the diamonds are separated by solid blue circles, with the white cloth showing through on the sides of the circles. The central motif of each design is a peone flower. One design is surrounded by floral elements and bats, the other is by floral elements and butterflies.
